Encryption of sensitive emails

As they are transmitted through the internet, emails can easily be read by unauthorised persons or even forged. Emails with sensitive content or sensitive attachments should therefore always be encrypted.

Information or data are classified as sensitive if their knowledge by authorised parties or their forgery would result in unacceptable damage. This would be the case, for instance, if serious competitive disadvantage, massive reputational damage or high contractual penalties were to result.

Personal information and data that go beyond the identification of a person (income, marital status, etc.) are also classified as sensitive (cf. Federal Data Protection Act).

Deutsche Leasing can exchange confidential emails that have been encrypted using the S/MIME internet standard and OpenPGP.

If you are unsure which encryption standard works with your business, please contact the operator of your email infrastructure.

If you do not support either standard we can also offer SecureMail messenger as an alternative.

Your certificate

Send us your certificate, or even easier, a signed email to securemail@deutsche-leasing.com.

It will be stored automatically in our certificate memory if it comes from a known public CA.
(CA = certificate authority = trusted third party = issuer of certificates)

If you have never used certificates to encrypt emails in your company before, please get in touch with the operator of your email infrastructure. You can obtain certificates at short notice from many public and commercial trusted third parties. The certificates can be used with all common email programs.

OpenPGP

Our key

Deutsche Leasing AG domain key (valid for all Deutsche Leasing email addresses):

Please note that the domain key covers more than one ID – therefore it  is valid for several e-mail domains.

Your key

Please send your public key to securemail@deutsche-leasing.com.
It may take some time for it to be stored in the key store.

Alternatively you can publish your public key online at http://keyserver.pgp.com.

If you have never used OpenPGP to encrypt emails in your company before, please get in touch with the operator of your email infrastructure.

SecureMail messenger

If you do not support either S/MIME or OpenPGP, we can give you access to our SecureMail messenger (an encrypted, secure online inbox). This will enable you to exchange encrypted messages, including attachments, with us via your internet browser.

https://smm.deutsche-leasing.com

You can download emails from SecureMail messenger to your desktop computer.

For the frequent, long-term use of email encryption we recommend that you switch to S/MIME or OpenPGP.
